Beneficent Presence
To be present without taking up space. To be a Sanctuary, not a Conqueror.
Beneficent Presence
To be present without taking up space. To be a Sanctuary, not a Conqueror.
“I want to do good in the world. What actions should I take? How do I help?”
Beneficent Presence Is not an action, but a State of Being.
A person is required to reach a state where his very existence in the world becomes a vessel for the revelation of the Divine Presence (Shechinah). Similar to what is said: “And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.” Not inside the place. But inside the Man.
The Zohar teaches that His Blessed Essence Is not grasped in deed or in speech, But is revealed through the stabilizing of a Corrected Vessel.
The Purpose of Creation Is for man to be a partner in the revelation of Light by aligning the Will to a Divine Form.
When the Will is settled, Not scattered and not demanding, The person’s presence becomes beneficent by its very existence. Just as His Blessed Presence animates reality without effort and without demand.
When the Thought, The Speech, and the Deed are settled and directed toward Truth, The person becomes a Chariot (Merkavah) for Divinity. Meaning: Not the one who produces the Light, but the one who carries it.
Such a presence is created when the Will to Receive ceases to demand for itself and flips to Influence (Hashpa’a). And then, existence itself radiates order, quiet, and vitality upon its surroundings.
Therefore, the requirement for Beneficent Presence is not a requirement for behavior, But for a deep internal clarification. In which a person stops taking up space at the expense of others, And becomes a Space that allows others to be.
This is “Divine Imitation” in the deepest sense. Just as His Blessed Essence Is present in everything And yet does not occupy space, So too a corrected man is present in the world not as a conqueror, But as an Instiller of Life.
