Beyond External Reality
The Ramchal writes in “Da’at Tevunot” (The Knowing Heart) that the completion of the rectification is
“when the will returns to being a divine will.”
Meaning...
it is no longer influenced from the outside,
but is rectified from within.
The Baal HaTanya says that the true tzaddik (righteous one) lives in a state of itkafya v’ithapcha (subjugation and transformation).
Meaning...
the outside no longer rules over him;
it is transformed into a vessel for the revelation of the soul.
And the Zohar adds:
“Because the Holy One, Blessed be He, has no change.”
The Divine does not change,
and as long as we are connected to it,
we are in a place that is not dependent on external reality.
Reflect:
In what areas of your life is your will most influenced by external circumstances, opinions, or events?
What would it feel like to have an inner will so aligned with the Divine that the outside world no longer controls your state of being?
Can you connect to that unchanging place within you, the part of your soul that is always one with the unchangeable Divine?
What comes up for you?
