Beyond the Garments
In a world of exile and physicality,
the garments help a person to begin to see the light.
They signal to him:
“There is something beyond what you see; you can lift up your soul.”
But one who truly lives the light
can be connected to Binah (deep understanding) every day,
even without fasting,
without external prayer,
without a head covering or special clothing.
Reflect:
What external “garments” (rituals, practices, specific clothes) do you use to help you connect to the spiritual?
How do these garments serve you? Do they point you to the light, or do they sometimes become a substitute for the light itself?
What would it feel like to be so connected to the inner light that you didn’t need any external reminder?
