Is Truth Subjective or Absolute? (The Paradox of Oneness)
We live in a world of "My Truth" and "Your Truth." Ruth Kedem explains: There is only One Truth. The difference lies in the clarity of the window we look through.
“Is the Truth we yearn for subjective? Or absolute? And who defines it?”
THE ABSOLUTE NATURE
The Truth is Absolute.
But it can also be revealed to everyone differently, According to the level of their Soul and their spiritual understanding.
The Absolute Truth is the Divine Light. The Supreme Intention of Creation. It is beyond any personal or limited perception of man.
It stems from the process of Creation, Where the Divine Light appears in the world through His Names and contents. It is an Infinite Essence. Independent of Time and Space.
THE SUBJECTIVE FILTER
The Absolute Truth is outside the world of matter. It is not grasped by ordinary human senses. It is revealed only to those who succeed in transcending and seeing beyond the cover of the physical world.
What creates the question about “Personal Truth”? The fact that man sees the world and life through a “Screen.”
A screen made of:
Personal experiences.
Fears.
Desires.
And the understandings he has reached so far.
Thus, the Truth for each person can be “Subjective,” Since everyone grasps it through their personal experience. But this does not mean that Truth itself is subjective by definition.
THE PURSUIT
The chase after “Subjective Truth” is actually a process of searching for the Absolute Truth. The one that is located beyond what is accessible to simple human consciousness.
According to Kabbalah: Every process of spiritual development is an attempt to connect to this Truth, And to ascend beyond the limitations of the Ego and limited understanding.
Every stage in this process is a stage in the revelation of the Absolute.
GOD IS ONE = TRUTH IS ONE
The definition of Truth stems, ultimately, from Union with the Light of Divinity. With the Supreme Will of Creation.
Truth is not subjective in the sense that it completely changes between people. It is One. But the way to reach it changes from person to person, According to the spiritual rungs of each one.
Hashem is One. The Truth is One. And there is a deep connection between the two.
This is the Absolute Truth that cannot be divided. It exceeds the boundaries of personal perceptions or our physical realm.
THE PRINCIPLE OF UNITY
In the Wisdom of Kabbalah and the Secret Torah (Torat HaSod), The uniqueness of Divine Unity is perceived as the fundamental principle of all Creation.
The deep understanding of “Hashem Echad” (God is One) means: That the Creator, or the “Infinite Light” (Ohr Ein Sof), Is the source of everything in Creation.
Every reality, Every phenomenon, Every entity, Every detail— All stem from this Divine Unity.
Every abundance, every pleasure, every possibility of correction or development— It all stems from that same Absolute Truth and the Unity of the Creator.
THE UNDIVIDED REALITY
This Truth, which is whole and undivided, Cannot be “split” between human beings, Between different opinions, or between personal experiences.
Any attempt by a person to understand the Truth or connect to it Is actually a process of Approaching that Divine Wholeness. Out of ascending beyond the limitations of Time and Place.
THE SPIRITUAL OBLIGATION
Every person who enters a true spiritual path Must undergo a process of Recognizing the Truth.
To discover the consciousness of this Unity. To be liberated from the division into levels or subjective opinions. And to understand that Everything comes from the same Source.
The only way to understand the Absolute Truth is through Surrender to the Creator. To the service of God. And connection to His Torah.
INTERNAL UNITY
“Hashem Echad” is also Internal Unity within us. When all the internality of the person is directed to that same Divine Light.
“Truth is One” means that every revelation of it— Whether through Torah, Whether through internal experience, Or through a spiritual guide— Stems from One Place.
From the Absolute Divine Light that connects all things.
The goal is to reach a state where every person, Through their internal work, Will sense this Unity in every area of their life.
Because when “Hashem Echad” dwells in the hearts, The One Truth spreads and includes the entire essence of the person, Until it becomes their very Being.
