Light Needs No Confidence
Light does not need self-confidence.
The ego needs it all the time.
Light is the true selfhood.
The divine,
inner soul,
which needs no proof.
It doesn’t “build an image.”
It doesn’t “compete.”
It doesn’t seek to prove that it is worthy.
The ego is the structure of the external identity.
“Who I am” in relation to others.
It is always afraid of collapsing.
And therefore it needs self-confidence, reinforcements, approvals,
because it is standing on sand.
The light simply exists.
The soul doesn’t need compliments.
It doesn’t search for “status.”
It isn’t driven by comparisons.
It knows its value because it is connected to the Source.
And when you are connected to the light within you,
you don’t need self-confidence,
because there is no question of “status” at all.
You are simply yesh me’ayin (something from nothing).
You belong.
The Ego Requires Maintenance
The ego, in contrast, lives constantly in a state of:
“Am I being seen?”
“Am I enough?”
“What do others think of me?”
“Am I succeeding?”
And so it is perpetually hungry for security, control, respect.
And so it also experiences constant pressure.
Just as the sun doesn’t need to shout at the darkness,
it simply shines.
The light doesn’t need confidence, because it is not in danger.
The ego always needs it, because it isn’t really there.
And therefore, the teaching of Mashiach teaches:
Don’t search for confidence—search for connection.
Don’t build an image—discover the selfhood.
Reflect:
In what areas of your life do you feel a constant need for external validation or “self-confidence”? Is that your ego speaking?
Can you connect to a part of you that simply is, that knows its own value without needing proof or comparison? What does that feel like?
What is one step you can take today to shift your focus from “building an image” to “discovering your true self”?
