Return to the Root
All souls are branches of a single tree,
and the root is the Creator Himself—
the infinite light,
called “the root of souls.”
The teaching of Mashiach reveals that the purpose of all the branches (souls in bodies)
is to return to the consciousness of the root while living in the body.
Not by disconnecting from the world (from ourselves), but by discovering unity (”He and His name are One”)
within the world.
The Root – Infinite Light
Before creation, there was only one reality:
the infinite light, where “He and His name are One.”
There, all souls were completely unified,
like a single light with no distinction between “I” and “you.”
But in order for the souls to know the light from within themselves,
a “tzimtzum” (a measured contraction) was necessary, a deliberate distancing,
to allow for self-awareness and love born of consciousness.
The Branches – Souls Within Bodies
When a soul descends into the world,
it is like a branch emerging from the trunk.
It is still connected to the root,
but sometimes it doesn’t feel the nourishment from it.
So it tries to “survive” on its own,
and this creates disconnection, fear, searching, and suffering.
The work of every soul is to open the channel to the root—
that is, to renew the connection to the inner light of life.
Not through external knowledge,
but through love,
truth, and inner contemplation.
The Tree of Life – The Person Connected to Their Root
“She is a Tree of Life (Etz Chaim) to those who grasp her.”
In the teaching of Mashiach, this is interpreted as follows:
The person who holds on to the consciousness of the root,
who does not forget that the light within them is the life force of all worlds,
becomes a Tree of Life themselves.
They are no longer a “separated branch,”
but a living, rooted trunk
through which the Divine Presence (Shekhinah) flows into the world.
They don’t just receive supernal knowledge—they become a vessel that reveals it.
Mashiach Consciousness – The Full Connection of All Branches
In Mashiach consciousness, the unity of all souls is revealed once again (the understanding that God dwells in each one).
Every soul discovers that it is not alone,
that it is a living cell in one divine tree.
And when it shines, the entire tree shines.
The Tree of Life is Mashiach consciousness itself.
Reflect:
In moments of loneliness or fear, can you remember that you are a branch still connected to an infinite root?
What would change in your daily life if you saw every other person as another branch of the same tree you belong to?
How can you “open the channel to the root” today—not through external knowledge, but through inner love and stillness?
