THE ART OF GETTING OUT OF THE WAY
Why "Surrender" is not about weakness, but about becoming a conduit
“How do I actually ‘surrender’ to the Unity? I understand the theory, but I don’t feel it. I feel stuck in my own head.”
The Shift Surrender
(Bitul) is simply a change in the Center of Gravity. To surrender to the Unity means to stop placing the “I” as the center of reality. It means realizing:
Not everything I want is Truth.
Not every emotion is an Instruction.
There is a reality greater than me.
This recognition is the beginning of Getting Out of the Way.
The Ownership Trap
The Divine Soul is literally a part of the Source. Deep down, you are already Unity. The problem is not that there is no Unity. The problem is that the Ego claims ownership.
Surrender is agreeing that the Power, the Vitality, and the Thought are not “mine.” They flow through me. When a person says with a true heart, “This is not coming from me,” the channel opens.
The Practice
The guidance of Unity means everything returns to One. Surrender is a constant choice to see the One Hand even when you don’t understand. It isn’t about understanding with the head. It is getting used to asking in every situation: “Where is the Signal here?”
Unity is not an experience. It is an internal change of intention.
It does not begin with deep intellectual understanding. It begins with an emotional agreement to release control. At first, it feels empty. Even threatening. Because the Ego loses its grip.
The Physical Sensation
In the physical body, Surrender feels like:
Less contraction.
Less alertness/tension.
Less struggle to hold up an “Image.” It is not Ecstasy. It is Silence.
The Candle Metaphor
Real Surrender is like a Candle before the Sun. The candle is not extinguished. It doesn’t die. But its light is not considered an independent reality anymore. It merges with the greater light. So too is the human being: He exists. He acts. But he understands that all his vitality is a Revelation, not a possession.
The Paradox
You cannot understand it with your head because the head wants to grasp. You cannot feel it in the physical because the body holds onto identity. Deep Surrender begins in the place where you agree Not to Know.
The deepest paradox is this: The more you get out of the way, the more your Uniqueness is revealed. Why? Because there is no longer a struggle to prove it.
Unity does not require you to disappear. It requires you to stop pretending that you are separate. And if you feel resistance? That is good. The part that resists is exactly the part that needs to be seen. What in you is afraid to disappear?

ORIYA’S NOTE
In Kabbalah, the word is Bitul. Translators usually call it “Nullification.” That is a terrible word. It sounds like you are being deleted. It sounds like suicide.
A better translation is Transparency. Or even better: Zero Resistance.
Think of yourself as a copper wire. If the wire has “resistance” (Ego, Fear, Anxiety), the electricity heats up the wire. It burns. It hurts. If the wire has Zero Resistance (Bitul), the electricity flows infinitely. The wire is still there! It hasn’t disappeared. It has just become a perfect Superconductor.
We are afraid to surrender because we think we will lose our personality. But Ruth says: “The more you surrender, the more your uniqueness is revealed.”
Why? Because you are no longer wasting 90% of your energy on maintaining the “Mask.” You are no longer wasting energy on “What do they think of me?” When the noise stops, the music begins.
Don’t try to “Nullify” yourself. That’s violent. Just try to Get Out of the Way. Let the signal through…
