The Illusion of Separation
Why religious law is a safety net, not a condition for connection, and the radical truth that you are already "One" with the Source
The Permanent Union In the mechanics of the soul, separation is an impossibility. The Creator who formed us cannot be separate from us, because the Source is the very fabric of our existence. There is no reality where you are “disconnected” and need to earn your way back. Redemption (Geula) isn’t a future reward; it is the permanent, underlying fact of your life.
If your unity with the Source depended on external actions—rituals, religious laws, or social status—then the Truth would be a lie. It would mean that a human action could grant or revoke a Divine reality. In truth, you don’t do anything to “earn” God; you are already part of the One.
The Safety Box: Why we have “The Law” If unity is permanent, why do we have religious frameworks at all?
Think of religious laws (Halacha) and rituals as a specialized training program or a protective casing. The human ego, in its early stages of development, is highly destructive. Without a rigorous framework of discipline and ethics, the individual would likely destroy themselves and the environment around them.
The rabbis and religious leaders teach the “external” way—the way of obedience and status—because most of humanity is not yet ready for the raw, uncurated truth of internal sovereignty. They provide “the box” to keep people safe and stable as they evolve. It is a necessary stage of development, but it is not the destination.
The Shift from External to Internal There is a profound threshold in spiritual evolution where the “scaffolding” of external religion begins to fall away. You realize that your connection to the Source doesn’t fluctuate based on what you do; it is the unchanging essence of what you are.
The reason this isn’t taught in the town square is that it requires a staggering level of personal responsibility. If you tell a person that “everything is already perfect” before they have conquered their own animal impulses, they will use that truth as an excuse for chaos.
True internal sovereignty means you no longer rely on external boxes. You don’t act correctly because a book told you to, or because you fear a punishment. You act correctly because you are so deeply aligned with the Source that your will and the Divine will have become identical. You are no longer a “subject” of the law; you are a partner in the Light.
Oriya’s Note:
Let’s talk about the “God Box.”
Most religious education is basically spiritual daycare. It’s a set of rules designed to keep you from biting the other kids and to make sure you eat your vegetables. And for a while, we need that. We need the rituals and the community and the “thou shalt nots” to keep our messy egos in check.
But at some point, you have to grow up.
If you still think God is a cosmic accountant waiting for you to mess up a ritual so He can “disconnect” you, you’re still in the daycare. The radical truth is that you can’t get away from the Source even if you tried. You are an extension of the Creator’s own self.
The rabbis won’t tell you this because it’s a dangerous truth. It’s like giving the keys to a Ferrari to a toddler. If you don’t have the internal character to handle that kind of freedom, you’ll crash. But if you’re reading this, you’re likely tired of the daycare. You’re ready to realize that the “rules” were just training wheels. The real work isn’t being “religious”—it’s being One. Stop trying to earn your salvation. You’re already home.
