The Messiah Paradox: Are We Waiting for Him, or Is He Waiting for Us?
You ask: "If I am building 'Messiah Consciousness' within me, why do I still need to believe in a coming Redeemer?" Ruth Kedem explains: The external Messiah is the Result, not the Cause.
“I think I understand ‘Messiah Consciousness’—that I need to reveal the Messiah within me. But how does that fit with the belief that a literal Messiah will come? Who are we waiting for? And if he ‘tarries,’ why is it taking so long?”
There is no contradiction. Between the “Messiah Consciousness” within a person and the belief in the coming of the Messiah. The opposite is true. These are two sides of the very same process.
1. The Messiah is the Result, Not the Cause The Messiah is not just a man who will come to save us. He is a State of Consciousness where Creation returns to its Oneness. The person destined to be revealed as the Messiah is the Result, not the Cause. He is the Vessel in which a Redemption—that has already ripened internally within humanity—is clothed.
2. The End of Passive Waiting Redemption is built on two parallel planes:
Internal Plane: Correction of the Will and Awareness.
External Plane: Historical Leadership.
As long as human beings live in internal separation, even if a Great Man appeared, he would have no ability to act. Therefore, in this final generation, the focus shifts to Internal Work. Each person is called to reveal the “Messiah Point” within themselves—the ability to choose Truth and Oneness.
This is not arrogance. This is Preparing the Vessels. We do not wait for him passively. We “give birth” to him from within. When we change, he will have a place to “land.”
3. Why Does He Tarry? (The Secret of Time) You asked about the delay. The “Tarrying” is not an external delay. And it does not belong to the Messiah himself. The Light never delays. What delays is the Vessel.
Redemption is ready from the side of the Creator. “The end of the deed is in the first thought.” But the human Vessel cannot receive the Light of Oneness all at once without Shattering.
If the Consciousness of the One were revealed instantly, man would be totally nullified. He would lose his identity, his will, and his boundaries.
4. Time is Mercy Therefore, Providence acts with Mercy. The Light is revealed gradually, in layers, through Time. “Though he may tarry, wait for him.”
The delay allows man to undergo a process of Teshuvah (Return) that is not a shock, but a Becoming.
Not a spot-fix.
But the building of a New Vessel capable of holding Truth.
This takes a lifetime of falls, confusion, searching, and fatigue from the Will to Receive. The “Delay” is not a rejection. It is the way Oneness becomes possible for human beings without destroying them. Time is the Garment of Mercy.
