The Refinement of the Will
The mechanical transition from the density of automatic desire to the functional clarity of a clarified vessel.
In the structural mapping of the spirit, the refinement of the Will—Zichuch HaRatzon—is not an act of self-annihilation.
It is a movement of the Will back to its root.
It is not about weakening the desire, but about purifying it from the “mixture” of egoic interference.
In the simplest layer—Pshat—the Will ceases to be an automatic reaction to external stimuli.
It moves into the layer of Drash, where the Will to Receive “clothes” itself in Intention (Kavanah).
This intention fundamentally alters the mechanics of reception.
The Will learns to hold the Light without attempting to “close” around it, but instead allowing it to flow through.
In the layer of Remez—the hint—the Vessel becomes refined.
It is less “cloudy” with fears and ingrained habits.
It is no longer a prisoner of old reactive patterns.
The Vessel becomes worthy of the Divine Abundance—not because the Light has changed, but because the Vessel has stopped distorting it.
According to the Secret—Sod—the Will to Receive no longer stands as a separate, fragmented entity.
It undergoes an inversion to become similar to its Source.
Just as the Light operates in a state of pure Bestowal, the refined Will aligns with this movement.
The gap between the “Seeker” and the “Giver” evaporates.
This is Adhesion (Dvekut)—not as an emotional wave, but as a structural fact where the Will is filled with the Truth.
