THE VACUUM, THE SNAKE, AND THE NEW NAME
Anxiety is a vacuum. The only cure is to take your seat.
I have been quiet for the last 8 years... Sporadic. The truth is, I was drifting. And as I was translating a text this morning, I finally understood the mechanics of why.
The text said: “Anxiety is a vacuum. When you don’t occupy your own center, the world rushes in to fill the void.”
I realized that I had left the seat empty. And when you leave the seat empty, the noise takes over. The doubt takes over. The “options” take over.
So today, I am sitting back down. I am recommitting to this logbook as a daily signal. And I am giving it the name it was always waiting for: The Substance of Faith.
Why that name? Because it defines the journey I—and maybe you—have been on for years. We spend our lives trying to outsource our faith. We look for it in substances. We look for it in the “high” of the ceremony. We look for it in the guru. We try to buy the light so we don’t have to build the vessel.
But the era of outsourcing is over. Here are three coordinates from this week’s transmission that explain why.
1. The Mechanics of Anxiety We think anxiety attacks us from the outside. It doesn’t. Anxiety is just the vacuum you create when you check out. When there is no Yishuv HaDa’at (Settled Mind), the external world rushes in to occupy your internal space. The news, the fear, the notifications—they only rule you because you aren’t home. The cure isn’t to silence the world. The cure is to occupy your seat.
2. The Anaconda We live in a world that acts like a giant snake. It swallows depth. It swallows souls. And the snake feeds on one thing: Curvature. It feeds on the double life. The gap between who you are in public and who you are in private. The “options” you keep open just in case. The only way to beat the snake is Yosher (Straightness). If you are straight—if your inside matches your outside—the snake has nothing to grab onto.
3. Victim vs. King This was the hardest hit. We all have moments where we ask, “Why is this happening to me?” That is the victim script. As long as you think God is doing it to you, you are small. The shift happens the moment you realize: “He is doing this with me.” The Creator is walking through the low place alongside you. He is in the friction.
If He is doing it to you, you are a victim. If He is doing it with you, you are a King.
The Bottom Line I am done looking for the exit. I am done drifting. I am taking my seat.
Welcome to The Substance of Faith. We are back online.
Zoom out,
Oriya
P.S. A deep bow to Ruth Kedem . I have never met her in the flesh, but we have partnered in the soul to unite the fire of the source with the language of the street…
