The World Is Already One
We are not moving toward unity; we are resisting the unity that already exists. Suffering is just the friction of that resistance.
The World Is Already One
“Why does the world feel so divided? Everyone is fighting for themselves, nations are at war, and it feels like we are further from peace than ever. Are we going backwards?”
The world is not moving toward connection. It is already connected in practice. But the connection exists only on the external level, While the consciousness and the heart remain in a perception of separation.
This is the reason that any attempt by an individual to “save himself” Ultimately creates a lack of peace for him as well.
The 20th-century sage, Ashlag (Baal HaSulam), says That every individual is bound to serve the good of the whole world. This is not moral coercion. But a natural result where every part draws its life from the Collective.
When Divine Leadership reaches the stage of revealing Oneness, Every private perception is exposed as partial and painful.
In the Tanya, this is described as a collision Between the Animal Soul, Which lives in the sensation of a separate “I,” And the Divine Soul, Which knows there is no life outside the Whole.
The Zohar teaches that when connection exists in reality but not in the heart, A “Spiritual Inflammation” is born. And this inflammation expresses itself as wars, crises, anxiety, and loss of stability.
Ashlag sharpens this: This is a necessary transition stage. The world cannot go back to being separate islands. Therefore, any internal resistance to unity is translated into suffering.
Peace is an Internal Alignment of the human being With the Law of Oneness.
The moment an individual starts to live from a consciousness That they are a limb in one body— Not as a surrender of self, But as an expansion of identity— They stop fighting reality.
Then it becomes clear that Peace is not a future goal. But an internal adjustment to what already exists.
The world is already one. The only question is how much pain we will need to go through Until the heart agrees to it.
