When the Soul Screams Up and Life Pulls Down
How to bridge the gap between "Spiritual Abundance" and "Material Security."
“How do we connect the worlds? The spiritual abundance and the material abundance? The earthly security and the Faith? Life here, and the soul that screams upwards?”
Spiritual Abundance = Upper Light that illuminates the internality of the person. It is not something measurable. It is a state of consciousness where the soul feels Connection. Taste, Vitality, Love, Purpose.
The Zohar (Parashat Terumah): “The Upper Abundance is the light of the soul, not external pleasure.”
For example: A sense of connection in prayer. Suddenly understanding depth in suffering. Joy without a reason. Inner peace in the face of a painful reality. Spiritual abundance does not depend on conditions—but on what the person is built to contain.
Material Abundance = Means in this world. Health, Livelihood (Parnassa), Home, Good Relationships. It is important. The Torah does not negate it; on the contrary. “Blessed shall you be above all peoples”—The Nation of Israel needs to be a source of abundance in this world too.
But it is not the “Peak.” Material abundance without a spiritual root does not fill the heart.
The Gap: “Abundance without a vessel spills to the ground.” (Baal HaSulam – Introduction to the Zohar)
There is money—and no quiet. There is food—and no satisfaction. There is a house—and no warmth.
Why? Because the Material Vessel received, but the Spiritual Vessel was closed.
In contrast, whoever receives abundance out of internal light— even a slice of bread feels like a holiday.
How do we create synchronization? The way is not to cancel the material, but to Sanctify it.
“The righteous eats to satisfy his soul.” (Tanya, Ch. 7) Not the cancellation of the physical, but an existence where the satisfaction is Internal.
So How?
Stop Chasing: Start asking out of Faith.
Stop Holding by Force: Start building a vessel with Faith.
Insert Intention (Kavanah): Into every physical action. Eating, earning, speaking—view it as a journey with the Creator. “The person’s table is like an Altar.” (Chazal) Then, the material abundance becomes a Messenger of the spiritual abundance.
True Spiritual Security (Bitachon) To know that everything that happens is precise, directed, and supervised. Not via intellectual knowledge, but via Quiet Internal Knowledge.
Baal HaSulam: “True Security is complete acceptance of Providence, even if it seems opposite.”
The Ramchal: “The one who trusts lives right now as if the salvation has arrived, because his heart rests in the repose of Providence.”
The Practical Bridge:
Food? Eat with blessing and gratitude.
Money? See it as an agent to fulfill a mission.
Crisis? Ask: “What must I learn from this?”
The Prayer: Do not ask: “Give me money.” Ask: “Give me material abundance that is connected to Your Light, so that I may be a Vessel in it, and not a Slave.”
Work on the “Internal Vessel”—Attributes, Faith, Gratitude, Equanimity. Remember: The Creator does not divide the world into two. Only we do that.
Material abundance without Spirit is a Shell (Klipa). Spiritual abundance without World is an Escape. But when they are together—The Kingdom of God (Malchut) is revealed in the world.
Reflect:
The Leak: Where do you have “plenty” but feel empty? That is where your “Spiritual Vessel” is cracked.
The Altar: Look at your dinner table tonight. Is it a feeding trough for the body, or an altar for the soul? The difference is Intention.
The Prayer: Try praying for money today, but add the clause: “So that I may be a Vessel, not a Slave.” Does it change how you feel?
