Why You Can’t Fill the Void (And Why You Shouldn't Try)
The feeling of emptiness isn't a mistake; it's a dead end for the Ego. Why finite pleasures can no longer satisfy an infinite soul, and the science of turning the "Lack" into a "Gate."
“What do we do to fill the lack/void that we feel?”
A person who feels a Lack (Chisaron) is not mistaken and is not weak. He has simply reached a Precise Dead End.
This void is proof that the Will to Receive (the Ego) has finished its role and is no longer capable of filling itself.
The Closed Circle As long as a person believes that filling the lack will come from:
An experience,
A relationship,
An achievement,
A role,
Or even an intellectual or emotional understanding... He remains inside the same Closed Circle of a Will that feeds itself and remains empty.
The Zohar says: “True Hunger is not hunger for a specific thing, but hunger for Light.” When a person tries to fill it with the means of This World, he only enlarges the Vessel without putting any true Vitality (Chiyut) into it.
The Diagnosis of the Masters
The Ramchal explains that the Lack is not a malfunction, but a Vessel that has been built. When a person feels “I have nothing to fill this with,” it is a sign that his Vessel is no longer capable of receiving a filling that is finite, temporary, or limited.
The Baal HaTanya clarifies that as long as a person works with concepts of words, emotions, or ideals without Attainment (Hassaga), he remains in “Smallness of Mind” (Katnut HaDa’at).
Kabbalah is a Science, Not Poetry True vitality arrives only when the Light is Attained Internally. Meaning, when the Will connects to its Root.
Therefore, Kabbalah is not poetic language about “Light.” It is a Science of Attainment. Of direct connection to Infinite Abundance through the Correction of the Will.
Messianic Consciousness Messianic Torah sharpens this: This generation can no longer be satisfied with Faith, Ethics, or General Meaning. Why? Because the souls have already evolved to the level of a Desire to Know, to Reveal, to Attain, and to Live Eternity while in the body.
The Solution: Don’t Fill It, Open It The feeling of lack is a precise call: Stop trying to fill yourself with finite things. Connect to the Source of Abundance itself.
Kabbalah suggests: Do not fill the lack; Rise Above It. Turn the Will from a “Closed Vessel of Reception” into an “Open Vessel of Influence” (Hashpa’a). Then, the Lack itself becomes a Gate through which Infinite Light enters.
The Guarantee
Whoever continues to search for a “filler” will remain Empty.
Whoever agrees to enter the path of Attainment—of conscious connection to the Light—discovers that the Lack was not meant to be filled.
It was meant to Open. And to Develop.
And there—begins Knowledge, Vitality, and a touch of Eternity.
Reflect:
The Hunger: Check your hunger. Are you hungry for a sandwich, a compliment, or for God? If it’s the latter, stop eating sandwiches and expecting to be full.
The Science: Treat your spirituality like engineering. You have a pipe (soul) that needs to connect to a reservoir (light). If the pipe is clogged with ego, the water won’t flow. Unclog it.
The Pivot: Instead of asking “What can I get to feel better?”, ask “What can I give to feel real?” Watch the void change shape.
