You Are Not Your Biography (The Light Beyond the Story)
We tend to define ourselves by our traumas, our failures, or our successes. Ruth Kedem explains: These are just branches. You are the hidden Root of Light.
THE ILLUSION OF DEFINITION
Nothing really defines us.
We are much more than our experiences. Much more than our pain. Much more than our successes and our failures.
All these are just part of the road. They are like branches on a tree, But they are not the Tree itself.
There is something deeper in us. Something outside the boundaries of everything we have been through. What happened to us. What we were, or what we failed to be.
THE ORIGIN: PURE LIGHT
At the base, We are created from Light. Pure, Divine Light. From the moment we entered this world, it remains within us.
Everything we go through in this world is a process of revealing and exposing that same Light. And it is not always easy to find it inside the difficulties, the pains, and the challenges.
Our experiences, Our lessons, Everything we go through— They do not define us. They only allow us to reveal who we truly are.
THE STORY VS. THE TRUTH
The story we tell about ourselves— “What I did,” “Who I am,” “What I am worth”— Is not always the absolute Truth.
The truth is that the person themselves is much more than that. Like a Pipe (Tzinor) that transfers the Light, Each of us is a unique expression of Divinity, Beyond the external and internal conditions in which we find ourselves.
We are not creatures limited by what we have been through. Not by what we were conditioned to think about ourselves. Not by what someone else said about us.
We are creatures who contain within them the possibility To be much more than we seem. We are the immense ability to change, to rise, and to turn all challenges into a springboard for spiritual growth.
THE WORKPLACE
This world, with all its challenges, Is just a “Workplace.” It is a site for spiritual work designed to bring a person to an internal revelation of Divine Light.
In the time of Exile (Galut), A person can feel limited and shaped by their experiences. “This is what happened to me, so this is who I am.”
But this is a very partial perception. Actually, the person is a connector between the Upper and the Lower.
THE CHARIOT (MERKAVAH)
In the deepest meaning, the role of man is to be a “Chariot” (Merkavah) for the Divine Light. To bring the Divine Light into expression in the limited world.
Any experience—even pains and losses— Is meant to direct the person to a place where they can reveal the Light inside And ascend beyond the personal image.
EIN OD MILVADO (NO SEPARATION)
“There is Nothing But Him” (Ein Od Milvado) means: We do not have separation from the Creator.
Any perception that touches on past experiences or external definitions is limited to this world, not to our true purpose. For the person themselves, every situation they go through is not separate from them. It is just a stage in the process where their Soul ascends and reveals its true essence.
SUMMARY
The transition from “What happened to me” to “The Light inside” Is exactly what we describe as Spiritual Correction (Tikun) and Internal Redemption (Geula).
We are not what we went through. We are not where people expected us to be. We are the Ability to Transcend and be who we truly are.
