YOU CANNOT SPREADSHEET THE INFINITE
Why your obsession with intellectualizing your trauma is blocking your connection to the Source
The Boundary of the Intellect
The 20th-century master Baal HaSulam (who decoded the Zohar for the modern age) mapped a definitive structural boundary: we do not understand the Infinite at all.
Human comprehension operates strictly through boundaries, cause and effect, time, and space. The Divine Essence (Atzmut) possesses none of these categories. Therefore, the human intellect cannot grasp It. You only perceive the actions and the external influence of the Creator, never the internal core. It is the architectural equivalent of knowing a friend by the actions they perform, without ever accessing the raw essence of who they are in the dark.
The Gap in Form
You only comprehend a frequency to the degree that your own internal structure matches it.
The Creator is an absolute, unadulterated desire to give. You were constructed as a desire to receive. Until you achieve Matching Frequencies (Hishtavut Tzura), there is a massive structural gap in your comprehension. Your lack of understanding is not a lack of information; it is a fundamental collision between the nature of the Source and the nature of the created being.
You can grasp the Thought of Creation—the intention to benefit the created beings. But you cannot grasp the Essence. The only way to bridge this gap is to correct the vessel. The more you refine your desire to receive into a desire to give, the more you align with the Divine frequency, and the more the Light reveals itself inside your corrected vessel.
The Protection of the Mystery
If you could fully understand the Essence, you would instantly limit It.
Every act of intellectual comprehension requires a contraction and a definition. The absolute inability to grasp the Infinite is the exact mechanism that preserves Its unlimited wholeness. Beyond a certain point, human intellect stops. Control stops. Definition stops. All that remains is pure Spiritual Bonding (Devekut)—achieved through matching the form of giving, not through acquiring academic data.
The Unknowable Self
Because you were created in the image of the Infinite, this exact architecture applies to your own psychology.
Your soul is drawn directly from an incomprehensible Essence. Therefore, you will never completely understand yourself. You can map your psychological patterns, analyze your emotional reactions, and track your habits. But you cannot mentally grasp the absolute core from which all of those layers emerge.
You live constantly between two poles. You experience yourself as a separate, independent entity, but your root is entirely unified with the Source. This gap creates a double mystery: you do not understand the Creator, and therefore, you do not fully understand yourself.
This is not a defect. It is the engine of your expansion. If you could completely figure yourself out, the movement would end. There would be no more searching. The mystery guarantees that the depth has no bottom, and the connection has no end.
ORIYA’S NOTE
We are absolutely obsessed with putting ourselves into a box.
We take the Myers-Briggs test, we track our astrology charts, we map our Enneagram wings, and we collect therapy diagnoses like trading cards. We want to be able to say, “I have an anxious-avoidant attachment style and I am an INFP, therefore this is exactly who I am.” We desperately want to spreadsheet our own souls so we can feel a sense of control over the chaos.
The architecture here destroys the illusion of the spreadsheet. You are a literal piece of the Infinite. You cannot fit the Infinite into a neat psychological category.
We try to intellectualize God, and we try to intellectualize ourselves. We read twenty books on Kabbalah or psychology, assuming that if we just gather enough data, we will finally “figure it out.” But the intellect is a limited tool. It requires boundaries. It requires cause and effect. And the core of your soul does not operate on cause and effect.
If you could completely map your own essence, you would be a machine. You would be dead.
The fact that there are parts of you that you do not understand, parts that confuse you and defy logic, is not a sign that you are broken. It is the echo of the Infinite inside your chest. Stop trying to intellectualize your way to the Root. You do not connect to the Source by figuring It out. You connect to It by acting like It.
